The Midtown Belvedere and Bolton Hill neighborhoods are rich with wonderful architecture. This area is also home to many important arts institutions such as the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, Lyric Theater, and Maryland Institute College Of Art. This tour begins at the Cultural Center Light Rail Station. If you are coming from a downtown hotel, catch the Light Rail northbound at the Pratt Street station. You can take either the Penn Station or Hunt Valley bound trains.
Mile 0 – Begin At Cultural Center Light Rail station. Head south on Howard street (towards downtown). The first main intersection is Chase Street.
Mile 0.10 – Left on Chase Street
The imposing structure on the right is The Belvedere, a once grand hotel that is now condominiums. The bar on the roof known as The Thirteenth Floor has one of the best views of Baltimore.
Mile 0.45 – Right on Calvert Street
Mile 0.65 – Right on Read Street
Read street has long been known for it’s eclectic mix of retail emporiums. Antique row is found at the corner of Read Street and
Howard Street. The two blocks of Howard Street to the south contain a host of antique shops if you are interested in an antiquing side trip.
Mile 1.05 – Left on Martin Luther King Blvd.
Mile 1.15 – Right on Eutaw Street
Note the ugly state office complex and sea of parking on Eutaw Street. This will soon be replaced by a massive transit oriented
development of homes, shops, and offices. Once you cross Dolphin Street you enter Bolton Hill proper.
Mile 1.5 – Right on Lafayette Avenue
Bolton Hill is one of the finer preserved nineteenth century neighborhoods you will find anywhere on the east coast. Look for the many small parks along your hike.

Mile 1.8 – Right on McMechen Street
Mile 1.9 – Right on Park Avenue
Mile 2.2 – Left on Lanvale Street
Mile 2.25 – Right on Mt. Royal Avenue

festival, Artscape is held in July.
