Federal Hill is a nicely restored 19th century Baltimore neighborhood with historic character, unique shopping, and a variety of restaurants. It is a brief walk from many of the major downtown Baltimore hotels.
Begin at the Baltimore Visitor Center. This is a great place to get some maps, buy tickets, and find some nice discounts.
Mile 0 – Walk towards the Science Center (to your right as you face the water), along the waterfront. Cross Light Street towards the
Harbor Court International Hotel and Find the corner of Light and Lee Streets
Mile .16 – Proceed on Lee Street west into the Otterbein neighborhood
This neighborhood was one of the original “Urban Homesteading” areas back in the 1970s. Known as Dollar Homes some of these homes were actually bought for a dollar!
Mile .4 – Left on Sharp Street
Mile .45- Left on Hill Street, proceed on Hill Street and pass through a pedestrian only area until you reach Charles Street
Mile .6 – Right on Charles Street
Now you have entered Federal Hill once you cross Montgomery Street.
Mile .9 – Left on Cross Street
If the Cross Street Market is open this is worth a visit, one of the city’s historic neighborhood markets.
Mile 1 – Right on Light Street
Mile 1.1- Left on West Street
The Federal Hill area is an incredibly well preserved 19th Century neighborhood
Mile 1.25 – Left on Riverside Ave
Mile 1.45 – Right on Warren Ave
Mile 1.5 – Go Left into Federal Hill Park at end of Warren Ave. This is one of the finest views you will find of the city
Mile 1.65 – Walk the loop of the park and enjoy the view
Mile 1.8 – Return to Warren Ave and go Right
Mile 2 – Right on Light Street
Mile 2.2 – Return to Visitor Center
